On February 28, 2025, the Centre for Constitutional Studies (University of Alberta) and the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights (University of Toronto) co-hosted a workshop at the University of Alberta on the role of the Charter in challenging the displacement of unhoused persons living in encampments. The workshop was one half of a larger collaboration between CCS and Asper on the legal and constitutional issues surrounding decampment, whether a disrupted encampment serves as a necessary means of shelter (the focus of this workshop) or political expression and protest (the focus of second workshop, planned for November 13, 2025).
